A medicinal herb farm, plant nursery, education and healing space located on the traditional territories of the Tseycum First Nation, on what is now called North Saanich, Vancouver Island, BC.

The farm is part of The Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture, and strives to be an example of best practices for soil health and regenerative farming practices.

Soil, Plant and Human Health

Our goal is to be a place for growing food and medicine, for gathering, knowledge sharing, and healing. We operate under the belief that all life is connected, that nature is our greatest teacher, and that farming practices need to respect and mimic nature as much as possible. Plant, human and environmental health are all connected to the health of the soil.

When the soil is healthy - by which we mean that it contains sufficient levels of minerals, organic matter, water, air and an active and biologically diverse soil-food web, the outcomes are profound. Healthier, resilient, more nutrient dense foods, powerful medicines, carbon sequestration, biodiversity, beauty, and a stronger connection to life itself are all possible when you really pay attention to the soil. Soil is deep.

By working to regenerate the soil at our farm we hope to be an example of what is possible in agriculture, and engage others in the process of healing the earth. It’s a lofty goal we know…but you have to start some where right?
